Gingivitis

Gingivitis is the most common type of gum diseaꦆse. It occurs when poor oral hygiene allows bacteria to 🃏accumulate on the teeth around the gums, leading to inflammation.

The symptoms of gingiv♍itis include puffy, inflamed gums and bleeding during brushing. This condition can🍸 be effectively treated by improving daily oral hygiene practices, such as thorough brushing and cleaning between the teeth.

Addi🐷tionally, a professional dental clean by a dentist is often necessary to ful🐷ly address the issue and prevent further complications.

Periodontitis

Periodontitis, also known as periodontal disease, is a more sev🅷ere form of gum disease. It is caused by destructive bacteria that lead to the loss of bone holding the teeth in place, forming pocket🅘s around the teeth where more bacteria can collect.

The symptoms of periodontitis include receding gums, loose teeth, bad breath, puffy gums, and bleeding gums. Treatment for periodontitis requires professional inte🦩rvention by a dentist or a💟 periodontist.

If left untreated, periodontitis can progress to t♔he point where teeth may need to be removed due to the extensive damage 𝓰caused by the disease.

Several factors can increase the risk of developing gum disease. Poor oral hygiene is a significant risk factor, allowing bacteria to thrive and cause infl⛦ammation.

Medical conditions such as diabetes can also contribute to the development of gum disease. Smoking🍌 habits, both past and current, significantly elevate the risk of gum disease.

Additionally, a family history of periodontitis can make individual🅠s more susceptible to this severe form of gum disease.
